When I originally started making this piece I was using Adobe Illustrator. After using Illustrator for a few days I realized that it didn’t fit my workflow and I was actually making the process more difficult for me by using it. I later used Pixlr E to restart my project, and after multiple attempts I designed the Agent Lizarus we know and love. Agent Lizarus’s backstory revolves around him being in an important meeting and a fire starting on the floor. He tried to grab something to put out the fire and ended up getting marshmallows stuck to his hands. I got inspiration from the Pokemon franchise and also a previous artwork of mine named Axomoko.
Spacial Drift Acrylics 2021 18" x 18"
When making this piece I’ve had very little experience working with acrylics, let alone by myself. I wanted to expand the things I could do when it came to making art and expressing myself. Stepping out of my comfort zone and experiencing things outside of digital creations was something I wanted to do, and I decided to do that and experience it on my own. My goal was to create a soothing feeling and make the viewer feel like they are the turtle. I’m very fascinated with the beauty of space and I wish that one day, I too can float in space just like the turtle.
Shroomy Nights w/Kenzie Acrylics 2021 4' x 2'
Working on this piece may have had it’s rough patches, but in the end Kenzie and I both created something we enjoy. I was able to put my creative ideas on the table, while also being open to other ideas that may come up. I learned that having someone else to look over your ideas could be key to finding something even greater than what you could imagine by yourself. We decided to make this piece on a ceiling tile in the art room so that everyone else who walks in can take inspiration from it. I even took inspiration from it to make Spacial Drift, and I can’t wait to see what else this inspires people to do.
